Last updated: 3 November 2026. All prices and limits below come from the official SE Ranking and Moz pricing pages, checked on that date.

You are choosing between two SEO platforms and want a straight answer. Here it is: Moz Pro is cheaper to start with, while SE Ranking gives you more projects, more daily keyword tracking and clearer agency tools for the money. Neither tool is the best for everyone, so the right pick depends on your budget, team size and the type of work you do.

Quick verdict

  • Choose Moz Pro if you want the lowest entry price ($49/month), a well-known Domain Authority score and a simple setup for one website.
  • Choose SE Ranking if you manage several sites or clients, need daily rank tracking, or want white-label reports (via the Agency Pack).
  • Not sure? SE Ranking offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card, so you can test it at no risk.

This guide compares both tools on price, plan limits, rank tracking, keyword research, backlinks, site audits, AI visibility tracking, local SEO and reporting. It uses official figures only. We have not run hands-on tests for this article, so we do not make claims about data accuracy or support speed. Where something is not publicly confirmed, we say so.

What are SE Ranking and Moz Pro?

SE Ranking is an all-in-one SEO platform. It covers rank tracking, keyword and competitor research, backlink analysis, site audits, content tools, local marketing, reporting, an API and AI visibility tracking.

Moz Pro is Moz’s SEO suite. It includes Keyword Explorer, Rank Tracker, Site Crawl, Domain Overview, link research, the MozBar Premium browser extension, AI features and reporting. Moz is best known for creating Domain Authority. Moz Local, its listings product, is sold separately.

Pricing and plans compared

Price is where most buyers start, so here is every plan side by side.

Which SEO tool is cheaper?

Moz Pro is cheaper at every comparable price point. Moz Starter costs $49 a month against $129 for SE Ranking Core. On annual billing, Moz Standard ($948 a year) costs $290.40 less than SE Ranking Core ($1,238.40). At the top end, Moz Medium ($1,716) is $962.40 cheaper per year than SE Ranking Growth ($2,678.40).

Cheaper does not always mean better value, though. SE Ranking Core includes 10 projects, while Moz Standard includes 3 campaigns. Annual plans on both tools also save 20%, but SE Ranking bills the full year upfront. Moving from monthly to annual billing on SE Ranking Core saves $309.60 a year, and on Moz Standard it saves $240.

Extra seats and add-ons

The headline price is only the start. Like the CRM software many teams buy, SEO platforms charge extra for seats and add-ons.

ExtraSE RankingMoz Pro
Extra user seatFrom $16$49 per month per seat
Agency / white-labelAgency Pack, $69/month (annual billing only)Not confirmed as a separate add-on
API25,000 credits (Core) or 100,000 (Growth) included; standalone API from $179/month; add-on $45/month annual or $29/month monthlyNot confirmed on the pricing page
Extra local locationsFrom $18.40 each (3 included)Moz Local is sold separately
Extra content articlesFrom $39.20Not applicable
Source: official pricing pages, 3 November 2026.

Worked example (illustrative): a team of three on monthly billing. SE Ranking Growth is $279 and includes three seats. Moz Large is $299 and includes three users. Moz Standard plus two extra seats is $99 + (2 × $49) = $197, which is the cheapest route, but Standard only allows 3 campaigns and 300 keyword rankings a month.

Buying from the UK or India? The prices above are US dollars. Neither pricing page reviewed shows tax-inclusive local prices, so check the currency, VAT or GST and payment options at checkout.

Read the units carefully. SE Ranking counts keywords tracked daily. Moz counts keyword rankings per month. A Moz “campaign” tracks your site plus three competitors, while SE Ranking uses its own “project” model. These numbers are not a like-for-like match, so use them to judge scale, not to work out an exact exchange rate.

Site audit capacity per month Bar chart. SE Ranking Core 250,000 pages, Moz Standard about 400,000, SE Ranking Growth 2 million, Moz Medium about 2 million, Moz Large about 5 million. For audits, Moz Standard allows more pages than SE Ranking Core, but SE Ranking Growth matches Moz Medium at about 2 million pages a month. SE Ranking also caps single projects at 250,000 pages (Core) and 1 million pages (Growth).

Features compared

1. Rank tracking

SE Ranking gives you more tracking capacity. Core tracks up to 2,000 keywords daily and Growth up to 5,000. It supports Google Top 100 tracking and Share of Voice. Search engines such as Bing, Yahoo and YouTube are listed in third-party descriptions, so confirm them in SE Ranking’s help centre before you rely on them.

Moz tracks a site or URL plus three competitors per campaign, across up to four search engines per keyword, and includes mobile rankings. Moz’s pricing page does not state how often rankings update. Third-party reviews describe weekly updates, so check Moz’s documentation before you buy if update speed matters to you.

Better for rank tracking: SE Ranking, on stated capacity. Independent accuracy proof does not exist for either tool.

2. Keyword research

SE Ranking states unlimited keyword, competitor and backlink research on Core and Growth. Moz uses monthly query limits instead, as the table shows.

Moz Pro limitStandardMediumLarge
Keyword queries per month1505,00015,000
Keywords per site query10,00030,00050,000
Source: moz.com pricing page, 3 November 2026.

Moz Standard’s 150 keyword queries a month is tight for active research. If you research keywords every day, you will hit that limit quickly, and you would need Medium or higher. Keyword difficulty is a vendor-specific score on both tools, so a “40” in one is not a “40” in the other.

Better for keyword research: SE Ranking for heavy use, based on the limits above. Database size and accuracy are vendor claims on both sides.

3. Backlink analysis

Moz markets access to “trillions of links”. That is a vendor claim, and a bigger index does not prove better data. SE Ranking includes backlink research and monitoring, but it does not state its index size on the pricing page.

Moz Pro limitStandardMediumLarge
Backlink queries per month5,00020,00070,000
Results per query10,00040,00050,000

Better for backlinks: no verified winner. Run the same domain through both trials and compare referring domains yourself (see the testing steps below).

4. Domain Authority vs Domain Trust

Both scores are proprietary. Neither is a Google ranking factor, and the two are not interchangeable.

MetricToolWhat it estimatesKey limit
Domain Authority (DA)MozHow likely a whole domain is to rank, on a 1 to 100 scalePredictive score; Moz says it is not a Google factor
Page Authority (PA)MozThe same idea for a single pageProprietary
Spam ScoreMozSpammy link signalsNot a Google penalty; plan availability not confirmed
Brand AuthorityMozBrand-level authority signalProprietary
Domain Trust (DT)SE RankingQuality of a domain’s backlink profileOfficial definition not confirmed in our sources
Page TrustSE RankingThe same idea for a single pageOfficial definition not confirmed in our sources
Sources: moz.com pricing page and SE Ranking descriptions, 3 November 2026.

Which should you use? Use either one to compare sites within the same tool. Never compare a Moz DA with an SE Ranking DT. If clients or link sellers already talk in DA, Moz fits that habit.

5. Site audit and technical SEO

Both tools crawl your site and flag technical issues such as broken links, redirects and missing titles. The main difference is size. SE Ranking offers up to 2 million audit pages a month on Growth, while Moz Large allows 1.25 million a week. SE Ranking is also described as supporting JavaScript rendering, but its pricing page does not confirm this, and Moz’s JavaScript support is not confirmed either. Check both help centres if your site relies heavily on JavaScript.

6. Competitor analysis

SE Ranking includes competitor research with no stated query cap on Core and Growth. Moz offers Domain Overview and competitor tracking inside campaigns (three competitors per campaign). We could not find independent tests of competitor traffic estimates for either tool, so treat those figures as estimates.

7. Content and AI writing tools

SE Ranking includes a content marketing tool: 25 articles on Core and 50 on Growth, with extra articles from $39.20. Moz includes AI content briefs: 2 a month on Standard, 10 on Medium and 50 on Large. SE Ranking offers a full content editor. A comparable editor on Moz is not confirmed.

8. AI visibility tracking

AI answers are changing how people find brands. Millions now use AI chat tools (see how many people use Character.AI for one example), and people also search on social platforms with huge audiences, such as Pinterest and Snapchat. Both vendors now track brand mentions in AI answers.

Better for AI visibility: it depends. SE Ranking covers five engines. Moz gives you a bigger bank of tracked prompts and dashboards on higher plans.

9. Local SEO

SE Ranking includes a Local and Map Rank Tracker (1,500 keywords) and listing management across 100+ directories. Three locations are included and extra ones start at $18.40. Moz handles local through Moz Local, a separate product whose pricing we could not confirm from the Moz Pro page. Better for local businesses: SE Ranking, if you want everything in one subscription.

For agencies, the Agency Pack is the deciding factor, but it adds cost. On annual billing, SE Ranking Growth ($223.20) plus the Agency Pack ($69) comes to $292.20 a month. The chart shows how much of that is the add-on.

Chart: share of monthly cost. Source: seranking.com pricing page, 3 November 2026. Agency Pack is sold on annual billing only.

11. API and integrations

SE Ranking includes research API credits in its plans (25,000 on Core, 100,000 on Growth) and sells standalone and add-on API options. Moz’s API availability, pricing and limits were not confirmed on the Moz Pro pricing page. If API access matters to you, SE Ranking is the clearer option today.

Ease of use and support

Reviewers describe Moz as cleaner and easier to learn, and SE Ranking as more powerful but denser. These are opinions, not tested facts. For learning resources, SE Ranking offers a Help Center, Academy, workshops, and chat and email support. Growth adds dedicated support and personalised onboarding. Moz lists 24/7 support on its plans, plus a Help Hub, Moz Academy and Whiteboard Friday. We have not tested response times for either, so we make no claim about which is faster.

Which is more accurate?

Nobody can say yet. We found no independent study, with a clear method and sample, that compares the keyword, backlink or rank-tracking accuracy of the two tools. Index sizes and “most accurate” claims come from the vendors. Before you buy, check the live G2, Capterra and Trustpilot scores and review counts yourself, and note that ratings from different sites are not directly comparable.

Pros and cons

If you run B2B marketing for technology companies with a small in-house team, the seat count matters most. Moz charges $49 for each extra user, while SE Ranking Growth already includes three.

Free plans and free trials

  • SE Ranking: no free plan. It offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card. The trial includes up to 10 projects, 750 tracked keywords per day, 20 AI prompts per day and AI competitive research for up to three domains.
  • Moz: a free Moz Community account gives limited access to MozBar, Keyword Explorer and Link Explorer. This is not the same as Moz Pro. Moz also mentions a free trial, but its length and card requirement were not confirmed on the pricing page, so check at sign-up.

Other tools worth a look

If neither tool fits, Semrush, Ahrefs and Ubersuggest are the names that come up most often. We have not compared their pricing here, so check each one on its own pricing page before deciding.

How to test both tools before you buy

Use the same website, keywords, location and device settings in both tools, or the results will not be fair.

  1. Create a project (SE Ranking) and a campaign (Moz) for the same site.
  2. Add the same 50 to 100 keywords with identical location and device settings.
  3. Record starting ranks and how long updates take.
  4. Run a site audit and compare the issues each tool finds.
  5. Run the same keyword and competitor research queries.
  6. Check backlink reports for the same domain and compare referring domains.
  7. Set up AI visibility tracking and see which AI engines you can monitor.
  8. Build a client report, test branding and scheduling, and contact support once.

Final verdict: SE Ranking or Moz?

There is no universal winner. Pick Moz Pro if you have one website, a small budget and want a familiar authority metric. Pick SE Ranking if you manage several sites or clients, track many keywords daily, or need white-label reports. On price alone Moz wins. On capacity per dollar, agency tools and API access, SE Ranking is stronger. Start with SE Ranking’s no-card trial, test it against Moz on your own site, and let your own data decide.

Frequently asked questions

Is SE Ranking better than Moz?

It depends. SE Ranking offers more projects, daily tracking and agency tools. Moz costs less and has the well-known Domain Authority score.

Which is cheaper, SE Ranking or Moz?

Moz. Starter is $49 a month, against $129 for SE Ranking Core. Higher tiers also favour Moz on price, but plan limits differ.

Does Moz have a free plan?

Moz offers a free Community account with limited access to MozBar, Keyword Explorer and Link Explorer. Moz Pro itself is paid.

Does SE Ranking offer a free trial?

Yes. It gives a 14-day free trial and does not ask for a credit card.

Is Domain Authority the same as Domain Trust?

No. They are separate proprietary scores from different companies, so their numbers cannot be compared. Neither is a Google ranking factor.

Which tool has better rank tracking?

SE Ranking has higher stated capacity (2,000 to 5,000 keywords daily). No independent accuracy study exists for either tool.

Which tool is better for SEO agencies?

SE Ranking, because its Agency Pack ($69 a month, annual billing) adds white-label reports, client seats and a lead generator.

Does Moz offer white-label reporting?

Moz offers branded reports on Medium and Large plans, but not on Standard. Full white-label features were not confirmed.

Can SE Ranking be used for local SEO?

Yes. It includes a Local and Map Rank Tracker and listing management across 100+ directories. Moz Local is a separate Moz product.

Do both tools track AI search visibility?

Yes. SE Ranking tracks five AI engines with 25 daily prompts on Core and Growth. Moz tracks GPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode with 150 to 600 prompts, depending on plan.

Which is better for beginners?

Moz is often the easier start because of its lower price, free Community account and learning resources. SE Ranking’s no-card trial is also a safe way to try it.
