Many people mix these up, and the difference matters for baggage and protection. All three belong to Jet2 plc, which was called Dart Group before. The company is based in Leeds and its CEO is Steve Heapy.

Jet2.com flew its first flight in 2003. Today it flies from 14 UK airports to more than 75 destinations. Is 22kg hold luggage included with Jet2?

It depends on how you book. On a Jet2holidays or Jet2CityBreaks package, a 22kg hold bag is advertised as included. On a flight-only Jet2.com booking, you must add it yourself. Check your own booking terms, as we cannot see them for you.

Add hold bags online before you travel. The airport price of £45 per bag is often higher than online prices. Also weigh your bag at home, because overweight bags cost £12 per kilo. Jet2 Seats, Legroom and Comfort

Which? lists Jet2’s seat pitch (the space from your seat to the one in front) at 29 to 30 inches. That is normal for UK short-haul airlines and slightly more than easyJet’s 29 inches in the same table. If you are tall, expect it to feel tight on longer flights to places like the Canary Islands.

• Seat choice: Jet2 sells allocated seats and extra-legroom seats. Prices change by route, so check them at booking.
• Families: Jet2 says it will try to seat children and infants under 12 next to an adult, or no more than one row away. Pre-booking seats makes this safer.

Food is not free on standard Jet2 flights. You can buy hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, pizzas and snacks on board. You can also pre-order a meal:

For many people, yes. A package bundles return flights, a hotel, transfers and a 22kg hold bag, so you avoid most of the extras that add up on flight-only deals. Always compare the total price against booking flights and a hotel separately.

ATOL Protection Explained

Package holidays sold by a UK travel company, including Jet2holidays, are usually protected by the ATOL scheme run by the Civil Aviation Authority. If the company fails, ATOL protection means you can get your money back or, if you are already abroad, finish your holiday and get home. Jet2holidays lists ATOL 9618 and ABTA membership Y1256 in its terms. Check for the ATOL certificate after booking, and confirm both numbers on the CAA ATOL pages and with ABTA.

A flight-only Jet2.com booking is not the same as a protected package. Package holidays can also give you extra rights under the Package Travel Regulations 2018. Check the documents you receive when you pay.
