1. Bleecker (Spitalfields, Seven Dials and six other sites)

Why go: It was named the best burger restaurant in the world in 2026. The menu is short: dry-aged beef cooked pink, American cheese, onion and a peppery secret sauce in a toasted seeded bun. There is also a bacon burger, a blue cheese burger and a vegan burger. A tenth London site in Camden Market (Middle Yard) was announced for summer 2026, so check whether it has opened.

2. Black Bear Burger (Brixton and eight other sites)

Why go: It ranked second in the world in 2026, and its Bacon Miso burger was named Best Burger in the UK at the National Burger Awards 2025. The house burger has two thin, crisp patties with onion jam and garlic mayo.
Price: £11.50 to £12.50 (Bacon Miso £11.90 to £12.50).

3. Honest Burgers (Liverpool Street and 40-plus London branches)

Why go: It won the National Burger Awards 2026 and beat 15 other finalists. The winning burger, The Honest, has two smashed dry-aged patties, thick-cut Wiltshire bacon, a beef and onion relish, American cheese and pickles. It began at the Smash + Grab site on Liverpool Street, and Honest rolled it out to its other restaurants from 12 May as a limited-time special. Ask your nearest branch whether it is still on the menu. Every branch serves rosemary-salted chips.

4. Burger & Beyond (Shoreditch, Soho and Borough Yards)

Why go: It came second in the National Burger Awards 2026 signature round and ranked 11th in the world. Try the bacon butter burger: dry-aged beef, melted American cheese, crisp pancetta and burnt butter mayo.

5. The Plimsoll (Finsbury Park)

Why go: A Finsbury Park pub with a chargrilled Dexter beef cheeseburger that chefs and critics keep naming as the best in London. It comes with melted cheese, burger sauce, minced onion and sweet pickles. This is also a good example of modern twists on classic British pub meals.

Why go: One burger, done very well: a single crisp smashed patty on a potato roll. It sits next to the Carousel bar, so you can pair it with a cocktail.

10. Jupiter Burger (London Fields)

Why go: A grab-and-go stall in Netil Market from the team behind Dom’s Subs. Lightly smashed beef sits in a yellow potato roll with Jupiter sauce, pickles, onion, tomato and lettuce. It gives out free fries when it rains.

Why go: A diner-style cheeseburger with bright yellow cheese, pickles, ketchup and mustard, and one of the few good burgers open late.

14. Blacklock (Shoreditch)

Why go: A chophouse with a surprise hit: a juicy patty with vermouth-caramelised onions, gherkins and a mild sriracha sauce. Order the beef-dripping chips.

Why go: A smash burger in a pub kitchen: aged beef, American cheese, mustardy mayo and a vinegar slaw added just before serving.
