How Old Is Michelle Smallmon?
If 13 August 1986 is right, she is 40. Her birthday has already passed this year, so there is no doubt about the number once the date is accepted. If only the 1986 birth year is treated as certain, her age today could be 39 or 40.
The 2024 University of Illinois profile is the strongest check. It called her 38 in November 2024. Anyone born on 13 August 1986 would have turned 38 in August 2024, so the two facts match.

Michelle Smallmon’s Date of Birth: What the Sources Say
ESPN’s official biography does not list a birth date. The date comes from biography websites, and most of them do not name a source. We checked the top 10 search results for her name. Eight agree on 13 August 1986, one says 1994, and one (the university profile) gives an age but no date.
Birth date claims in the top 10 search results
| Source | What it says | How far to trust it |
|---|---|---|
| University of Illinois 150 Years profile (Nov 2024) | Age 38 | High. Credible outlet, but no exact date |
| Eight biography sites | 13 August 1986 | Medium. They agree, but give no source |
| One biography site | 13 August 1994 | Low. Conflicts with the profile above |
| One site, on a separate page | 10 November 1986 | Low. Contradicts its own other page |
| ESPN Press Room | No date given | Official, but silent on age |
Several sites also get the sum wrong. Some list age 37 or 39 next to the same birth date. Use 13 August 1986 with the word “reported” until Michelle or ESPN confirms it.
